GALLERY INTRODUCTION
NEW SOUTH GALLERY is a contemporary art gallery located in the BAN Residence at Senne Rouffaerplein 1, in the heart of Antwerp's Nieuw-Zuid district. Opened in January 2026, the gallery presents carefully selected emerging and established artists whose practice is defined by integrity, innovation and emotional resonance.
ARCHITECTURE & SETTING
The gallery occupies a space within one of Antwerp's most celebrated new buildings — the BAN Residence, designed by Shigeru Ban, the Japanese architect renowned for his poetic dialogue between light, form and natural materials. The Pritzker Prize-winning architect's vision of restraint and spatial generosity provides an exceptional backdrop for the works on view.
Nieuw-Zuid itself represents a new chapter for Antwerp: a visionary urban quarter developed by leading architects including Vincent Van Duysen and Office Kersten Geers David Van Severen. Nestled between the River Scheldt and the historic city centre, the district has quickly evolved into a cultural destination — a home for design, fine dining and a growing community of collectors and art lovers.
OUR STORY
NEW SOUTH GALLERY was born from the shared vision of two friends — a medical doctor and dedicated art collector, and a specialist in the high-end luxury sector. One brings a collector's eye and a deep sensitivity to artistic value and emotional truth. The other contributes a refined understanding of atmosphere, presentation and experience.
Together, they have built NEW SOUTH GALLERY as more than a gallery. It is a dialogue between art, architecture and lifestyle — a space that reflects the minimalist purity of its surroundings while celebrating the depth and diversity of contemporary artistic expression.
OUR MISSION
We collaborate with artists who share our belief in craftsmanship, authenticity and the capacity of art to move and endure. By presenting their work within an environment defined by restraint and sophistication, we create exhibitions that feel intimate, curated and timeless.
NEW SOUTH GALLERY welcomes collectors, curators and art lovers. Visits are possible during our regular opening hours or by private appointment.
