Nasser Bakhshi Iranian, b. 1982
Nasser Bakhshi is an Iranian-born artist whose work explores the archaeology of memory, silence, and cultural identity. Working across photography, installation, and mixed media, Bakhshi constructs layered visual narratives that sit at the intersection of the personal and the historical — drawing on archives, found imagery, and material trace to evoke what cannot easily be said.
His work has been presented internationally, and his practice is distinguished by its meditative quality: images that reward sustained attention and resist the immediate. His solo exhibition Portraits and Archive of Memories at New South Gallery (March–April 2026) brought together new works that examine portraiture as an act of preservation — a form of witness.
Nasser Bakhshi is represented by New South Gallery, Antwerp.
